It's a pretty neat repeated pattern that comes out of base 2 (binary) math. Has some pretty interesting properties.

That joke is not a put down, its a joke I like to say whenever someone says something , a favorite, a solution, anything, that is so out of what you would expect him or anyone to say that its amusing to tell the person that "hey, me too", or "yeah, I figured youd say that".
